Road Trip
In the spirit of making the best use of this completely free week I have been given, a friend and I have decided to embark on a mini-road trip. It’ll only be a two-day adventure as we’d like to be back in San Francisco for NYE, but it should be fun none-the-less. Our plan is to head down to Monterey and back.  This of course means I will also be taking my new Nikon out on its maiden...

… but that was [yesterday] →
cbowns: An incredible entry in (and eventual winner of) the casual gameplay design competition at jayisgames. It’s got a strong spirit, like Braid or Limbo, and though the graphics aren’t as polished as every day the same dream, it’s still a fantastic game. (Make sure you make it past the dog in the snow: the pace picks up after that, and things start to make more sense.) Finally sat down to...

Warning: Camera Porn Ahead
Tumblr, meet my new Nikon family Nikon family, meet Tumblr.  To top it all off, I got a pack of Impossible Project polaroid film to play with too  I am beyond excited. Thank you dad for such an amazing Christmas gift, and for holding onto this camera equipment for so long. I will make sure to continue the joy that you (and my mother) found in photography more than twenty years ago.  As a...

Making nothing out of something: 20 Things I Plan... →
correlationstonone: You’re going to change in life. You are not going to believe that you are going to change in life. You will not listen when you are told, “You are going to change in life.” When you change in life, you will look back and say “I was silly to say I was not going to change. Then, like an idiot, you will say “But I’m certain I won’t change anymore.  This is who I am.”  And then you...

Identity Crisis
I’m moving towards getting more comfortable with my blog and thus jumping on the recommend give/receive ship. Problem is, how should I categorize myself?  I’m thinking of playing the travel card like wiseash since I’m posting a lot of my past travel photos and stories, intend to post future travel photos and stories, and want to move this blog (once I fall more into photography...

Squashed: The Truth that Creates Us →
squashed: Last night, I posted some thoughts on the fluid nature of truth. Sarah (in San Fransisco) agreed, but concluded her post, There is no Truth. There is only truth that we create. I don’t think Sarah and I actually agree.1 While truth isn’t some dead specimin to tag and collect, truth is every bit as real as we are. Truth pulls us like the moon pulls the tides. Or perhaps like the waves...

wiseash: priorities. →
wiseash: I would say that one of the most common things people (both followers of this blog, and elsewhere in my life) say to me is “I would love to travel, but I just can’t afford it”. now, my husband and I make decent money, but we also pay for life in nyc which involves high rent, overpriced groceries,… You said it. I’m a full time student who has to somehow fit in at least 30...

Woops!
Correction to this post. I meant *step-father* NOT *father-in-law*. I am most definitely not married folks. Otherwise the sentiment is the same. Thanks beenid for pointing that out to me.  Carry on.

Squashed: The Truth is a Well Told Story →
squashed: Postmodernists are criticized for playing fast and loose with the truth. I think it’s more fair to criticize the truth for playing fast and loose with humanity. If we believe in anything, we believe in truth. But we have a devil of a time nailing down what it is. A fundamentalist Christian might hold up a Bible and say that it, whatever it is, is truth. As statements of truth go,...

The Case for Social Networking
I was having a discussion with my step-father the other day about the pros and cons of social networking. Given our respective ages, the discussion was pretty formulaic: I argued vaguely that I found it generally interesting and a good thing, he argued that he felt it could be detrimental to real life social interaction, and then our chicken fajitas came (mine with extra guacamole) so that was the...

Playing with Lights
I went down to Palo Alto this weekend to visit a friend, and inevitably found myself on Christmas Tree Lane. For those who don’t know, it’s been a long standing tradition for this particular block to deck their houses out with lights and other goodies in the spirit of Christmas. I used to go all the time when I was younger and up in Palo Alto visiting family for the holidays, but...

Lost Grrrls: If you've ever made an account to... →
lostgrrrls: Or if you’ve ever made an account on any OTHER Gawker media site (Lifehacker, Gizmodo, Gawker, io9, Jalopnik, Kotaku, Deadspin, and Fleshbot)… Well, it’s time to go and do a major password change/overhaul. Especially if you’ve used that password on any other sites. I have a unique password on… Aiy… passing this along, good for everyone to know.

evitravels asked: Hey thanks for your note about Pompeii! Yeah, it was great fun to explore, especially since it was practically empty this time of year. Anyway, just wanted to say thanks - since I still haven't mastered the reply screen grab to reply back skill. Good luck with your exams!
